IP-to-IP gateways such as Session Border Controllers, H.248 Border Gateways, Security Gateways and Firewalls, play a critical role in enabling and protecting the new generation of multimedia services which are driving the deployment of VoIP and Fixed Mobile converged (IMS) networks.

VoIP and IMS IP-to-IP gateways support a number of core functions such as security against theft of service and malicious attacks using SIP Flood/DoS and rogue media, per-session policing, QoS monitoring and reporting and secure access to services. These functions are critical to ensure the viability of VoIP and IMS services and Navtel`s IP2IP gateway test solution is focused on testing these functions in addition to the performance, scalability and reliability of the IP-to-IP gateways.

Solution Highlights:

  • Up to 256,000 SIP endpoints each with a unique IP Address
  • 128,000 simultaneous RTP streams
  • Up to 5,000 CPS without media and 2,000 CPS with RTP
  • Up to 256,000 TLS or IPSEC sessions – one for each endpoint
  • Registration flood testing – up to 8,000 registrations per second sustained – each with authentication ( IMS AKA and HTTP Digest)
  • SIP Flood attacks
  • Rogue media testing – Detect whether media pinholes are closed once calls are terminated
  • Negotiate and transmit several Codecs simultaneously ( eg. 50% of G.711, 20% of G.723, 20% of G.729, 10% of calls on hold)
  • Negotiate one codec but generate another type with higher bandwidth to test the Theft of Service Protection function of the device under test
  • Detect in real-time and at line speed whether the device under test is penalizing RTP streams that do not conform to their negotiated Codecs/bandwidth – stealing bandwidth
  • NAT emulation to test the NAT traversal capabilities of the SBC
  • Path verification for every established stream to verify whether:
    • Media was detected
    • Media packets were misrouted
    • RTP Codec received was not as negotiated
  • ToS/DSCP override testing
  • QoS measurements for Delay, Loss, Inter arrival Jitter & MOS with user defined thresholds
  • Call Records for each call that fail the Path Verification Test or exceed the QoS thresholds
  • User defined wave files and packetization intervals
  • Audio, Video and DTMF analysis in real-time
